I had a day off on Monday — the first Easter Monday which I have had as a holiday in about ten years, so I really relished it! It was very much needed after the rigours of the Easter Triduum which we don’t do by halves at St Paul’s. This year, with a new rector in post (after a loooong interregnum), we really excelled ourselves — no false modesty here! — and by Sunday afternoon (if not sooner) we were all completely shattered. Anyway, I spent my holiday pottering about the loom room and getting organised.
A quick peek in the sketchbook, where my samples are safely stowed, along with printouts from Excel of my winding, threading and lifting plans and various pencilled comments to remind me of what I did:

This page starts with the wrapping on which I based the winding of this pink warp. Taking the step from a design idea, no matter how well-developed, to an actual sequence of warp threads is the hardest part for me — so many decisions! — and I like to keep the wrappings close by to remind me of that crucial stage and the fact that it is possible.
Having sat down with all the yarns and colour charts, I have now placed some serious orders too. And I got home this evening to a card promising a parcel at the post office; I will have to collect it on Saturday…. I bet it is from Handweavers as they are really efficient in that respect. Others, I know, will keep me waiting much longer, but at least I have done my bit.

Very impressive, Cally.
I agree with Leigh, very impressive.
Well thank you both, that’s very kind
