a warp on the dark side

It’s been a busy day.

On the warping board preparing to beam on the warp beam

This warp is about six and half yards long, which should be enough for a few samples and then a couple of scarves (since I am planning to shrink them I need to weave about 30% extra length). I have my palette of colours now (all over the table, in fact — I’ll have to squash them up together for a group photo), but my first selection from it has surprised me. It is rather darker than the combinations I have been working with for the last little while and I can’t decide whether I am really happy with it or not. Perhaps the carpets are influencing me?

These are definitely *my* colors if I were weaving for myself.

Very rich jewel tones, I love those colors, can’t wait to see your scarves.

Thanks Alice and Bety! It’s good to have some votes of confidence when I am in a State of Doubt myself.

Thanks for the referral–the colors are beautiful, and I’m headed off to S.F for a mental-health day on May 10. I’ll definitely be visiting the de Young.

I’m a lurker on your site, but I enjoy it quite a lot, especially now that I’ve sat down and begun weaving in earnest again. Count me in as one of those who love threading.
